Thai Textile exhibition to be held on 18 and 19 March

The Thai Embassy in cooperation with the Al-Sadu House is hosting a cultural event ‘Thai Textiles: The Touch of Thai’ on 18 and 19 March 2019 at the Al-Sadu House.

The program will include a Thai textiles exhibition and fashion show, cultural and music performances, lecture and workshop, and a reception. The main objective of this event is to promote the endeavors of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit to preserve Thailand’s unique textile heritage and to help provide a source of income for the poor rural families in Thailand. More than 30 cultural officials and textiles experts from Thailand will take part in the event.

Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait H.E. Dusit Manapan, expresses his appreciation to H.E. Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al-Sabah, Chairperson for Al-Sadu House Society, as well as the good cooperation from the National Council Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) in facilitating the
preparations and arrangements for the event. This cooperation reflects the excellent relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the State of Kuwait as well as their people.

He is also very honoured that Eng. Ali Al Youha, Secretary General of the NCCAL will be present at the event. The Ambassador welcomes the public to the exhibition which
will feature Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s project and demonstrate how Thai textiles are transformed into sophisticated and modern wear.

The ‘Queen Sirikit & Thai Textiles’ Exhibition

All the way from Thailand, this exquisite exhibition will feature the beautiful works from Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s project of the Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques Foundation. The majority of the project is focused on training villagers in traditional handicrafts, and preserving various types of traditional Thai textiles such as Mat Mii, Khit, Chok, Phrae Wa silk and Brocaded silk in addition to teaching weaving techniques and maintaining the presence of different kinds of Thai national costumes.

The exhibition will be held on Monday, 18 March, 2019 and is open to the public. However, interested people have to make a seat reservation for the lecture and workshop on Tuesday, 19 March, 2019 must be made via Ms. Iman, mobile no. 99848046. All events are free of charge.
